Brae House

DESCRIPTION Private dwelling / Remodel of existing property with new single storey rear extension CATEGORY Architecture & Interior Design LOCATION Castlegate / Prestbury / Cheshire

residential

01
The existing home was typical of the original 70's built properties on the estate. Our brief was to maximize the efficiency of the interior layout through careful reorganisation and remodelling of the internal spaces. Through this considered approach, only a modest extension was needed at the rear of the property. With a striking angled bay window to offer views of the garden the new extension provides a generous open plan kitchen and living space.
02
Due to the efficiency of the plan, the budget afforded significant transformation of the appearance of the home. Overcladding in timber and zinc provides the house with the modern frontage to suit the radically transformed interior. A significant feature of the new frontage is a glass fronted central bay to create a double height dramatic entrance. A custom designed fretted timber light wraps its way through the double height volume into the rear living areas.
